Gabonese professional footballer, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is said to have landed in Spain on Monday to complete his loan switch from Arsenal to Barcelona.
Naija News understands that fans and journalists were readily outside Barcelona’s airport today to welcome
Aubameyang through the terminal and signed autographs before hopping into a waiting vehicle, flashing a thumbs-up as he departed.
Barca and Arsenal engaged in talks earlier over the striker’s future during the morning of deadline day, with the key factor his £350,000-a-week wages.
Arsenal hope to make a big saving on the Gabonese wages having already let Sead Kolasinac and Calum Chambers leave this month, along with loan departures for Folarin Balogun, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Pablo Mari.
Naija News recalls that Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta had earlier sanctioned Aubameyang over indiscipline.
The player was stripped of his captaincy at Arsenal last month and since had not returned to the English Premier League club mtachday squad since.
Aubameyang had only scored a tally of just four goals in 14 Premier League matches this season, raising questions over the 32-year-old’s form of late.
Meanwhile, Arsenal is reportedly making a move to sign Juventus player Alvaro Morata to take the place of Aubameyang.
Naija News understands that Arsenal has failed to complete the signing of Dusan Vlahovic, who has now joined Juventus, while Alexander Isak looks set to stay at Real Sociedad until the summer.
Arsenal would have to make a smart move before the deadline hours are exhausted to make a good signing to replace its outgoing players.
Morata is believed to be Arsenal’s top priority signing at the moment.
