The Oluwo Of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi has been ordered to appear in court by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The order was given on Friday by Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara while ruling on an exparte application on an alleged assault by the Oluwo on Oba Dhikrullah Akinropo, the Agbowu of Ogbaagba.
In his ruling, the Magistrate ordered the police to put the traditional ruler on notice before a date would be fixed for hearing of the matter.
Prosecution Counsel, Mr Soji Oyetayo had approached the court for an order on motion exparte in order to file an application against the Oluwo.
It will be recalled Naija News previously reported that the Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi allegedly pounced on another monarch during a peace meeting organized by the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of zone 11, Bashir Makama on February 14, 2020.
The incident happened after the AIGP, Bashir Makama, had summoned all royal fathers from Iwo axis of Osun State for a peace meeting over land disputes.
After the incident, the Oluwo has since been suspended from attending the Osun State Traditional Rulers’ Council meeting for six months.
A committee headed by the Orangun of Ila, Oba Wahab Adedotun to further investigate issues involving Oluwo and Obas in Iwo land was also set up by the council.
