Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court, Abuja, has fixed ruling on the bail application filed by the former Chairman of defunct Pension Reform Task Team, Abdulrasheed Maina, for November 7.
Naija News understands that Justice Abang fixed the date, after taking arguments from the defence and prosecution counsel.
Recall that EFCC charged Maina with 12 counts bordering on “money laundering, operating fictitious bank accounts and fraud.”
However, Maina pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
The EFCC in 2017, declared Maina wanted, following his refusal to honour the commission’s invitations.
Although top government officials tried to smuggle him into the country and attempted to reinstate him to office, the process backfired.
The Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari and former Head of Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita, had reportedly clashed over the leaking of a memo which revealed that Buhari was aware of the move to reinstate the former pension boss.
Maina, who has been on the run from the Nigerian government, was arrested at a hotel in Abuja after he sneaked into the country from his Dubai, United Arab Emirates base.
