Kidnap kingpin, Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike popularly known as Evans has been convicted by the Lagos High Court, Ikeja on a two-count of conspiracy and kidnapping of a businessman, Donatus Duru.
Donatus Duru, who was abducted by Evans and his men, is the Managing Director of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Ltd.
Evans alongside two of his co-defendants, Uchenna Amadi and Okuchuwkwu Nwachukwu were convicted by Justice Hakeem Oshodi on Friday.
Justice Oshodi in his ruling stated that the prosecution had successfully proved the charge against the three convicts beyond a reasonable doubt.
He further stated that the video confessions tendered before the court corroborated the guilt of Evans and his co-defendant.
The court discharged and acquitted Ogechi Uchechukwu and two former soldiers of the Nigerian Army, Chilaka Ifeanyi and Victor Aduba for lack of sufficient evidence linking them to the crime.
Evans alongside Uche Amadi, Okwuchukwu Nwachukwu, Ogechi Uchechukwu, Chilaka Ifeanyi, and Victor Aduba were arriagned by the Lagos State Government for allegedly kidnapping the Managing Director of Maydon Pharmaceuticals Limited, Donatus Dunu February 14, 2017.
