Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson has expressed his willingness to accept criticism regarding his performances for the team, emphasizing that such feedback serves as a powerful motivator for him to elevate his game on the pitch.
Nicolas Jackson, who made his move to Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023, has faced significant scrutiny during his inaugural season with the Blues.
Many fans and former players voiced their concerns about his contributions, which added pressure to the young forward as he settled into the demands of English football.
Despite the earlier challenges, Jackson has begun the 2024/2025 season on a remarkable note under the leadership of manager Enzo Maresca.
As of now, he has already netted eight goals and provided three assists in the Premier League, showcasing his potential and ability to perform at a high level.
Ahead of Chelsea’s upcoming Conference League match against Astana on Thursday, Jackson shared his thoughts during an interview with Premier League.
The Senegalese international said, “I want to hear people say bad things about me! Criticising me on the pitch, it’s nice… it helps you. I love this, you know.”
He further elaborated on his mindset, acknowledging that he hasn’t yet reached his full potential: “I’ve not made it here yet. I’m just improving. Making it is scoring every week, 20/30 goals, or winning trophies.”
