President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday condemned the killing of Lawan Andimi, chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Michika LGA of Adamawa state, by Boko Haram.
Naija News recalls that Revd. Andimi was abducted by the terrorists following a failed attack on Michika LGA by the dreaded Boko Haram sect on January 2, 2020.
It will be recalled this online platform also obtained and published a video of the CAN chairman who spoke out from Boko Haram custody where he expressed hope of been rescued from the insurgents.
In the video released by respected journalist, Ahmad Salkida, Rev. Andimi, however, declared that if its pleased God that he would not get out of captivity, they should look after his children.
However, Andimi was on Monday killed by members of the Boko Haram group after they had initially demanded the payment of ransom for his release.
Reacting in a statement by his Media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari described the murder as cruel, inhuman and deliberately provocative.
The statement reads: “President Buhari consoles the Christian community all over Nigeria, the government and people of Adamawa state and the Bishop’s family over the sad loss of the man of God and assures that terrorists will continue to pay a heavy price for their actions and would comprehensively be defeated by our determined armed forces.
“President urged nations of the world to end all support provided to Boko Haram and Islam in West Africa, ISWA terrorist groups whose only goal is to sow death, violence and destruction in the sub-region.”
