President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday met with the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu.
Naija News reports that the Nigerian leader met with the former Governor of Nasarawa State at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The newly elected chairman was accompanied to the meeting by the immediate-past APC Caretaker Chairman and Yobe Governor, Mai Mala Buni.
Adamu, a founding member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), will be meeting with Buhari for the first time since his election as the new chairman of the ruling party.
Recall that President had approved the choice of Adamu as the next national chairman of the party during a meeting with APC governors at the State House, Abuja.
This was after Buhari had told the governors that the party chairmanship position should be zoned to the North Central geopolitical zone.
“The president, at the brief meeting, told us that the party chairman should come from the North Central and that the person should be Senator Abdullahi Adamu. Nobody disagreed with him.
I think the nomination is in the best interest of the party because we need a national chairman that can match Ayu, the PDP chairman. From all angles, Senator Adamu has the capacity to tackle him and lead the party to victory,” a governor had said.
