Buhari Speaks On New Minimum Wage Payment
President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday gave further assurance on the commitment of his administration to implementing the new minimum wage.
The President used the opportunity to also call on state governors and employers in the private sector to work towards providing a living wage for their workers.
In his submission, Mr. Buhari said the implementation of the new minimum wage will commence soon.
He made the declaration at the 11th triennial delegates conference of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria where he was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
The President further stated that as a result of several reforms embarked upon by his administration, the economy is expected to grow by 2.7 percent in 2019.
He also reiterated the commitment of his government to the general welfare of workers in the country.
Naija News recalls President Buhari in April, signed the new minimum wage bill into law which is expected to guarantee the payment of N30,000 monthly to the least paid Nigerian worker.
Earlier, lawmakers in the Senate and the House of Representatives had passed the minimum wage bill.
