Spokesman for Governor Kashim Shettima, Mr Isa Gusau, stated this on Thursday during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.

“Yes we have challenges, but the fact is that there has been tremendous progress,” he said. “People have increasing confidence in the fact that security is improving and then a lot of people are returning voluntarily while the fear of attack is reducing.”

Gusau’s comment comes on the heels of a series of renewed attacks by the insurgents which left many dead and several others injured and displaced in some communities in the state.

#JH My only worry is that the same way we started this thing was how Boko Haram started in Borno. I believe that Govt. appears not to be telling us something~Ismail Omipidan pic.twitter.com/eWSSiUGb6G

He, however, insisted that the Federal Government and the military have recorded a tremendous progress in tackling the activities of the terrorists in the region.

The governor’s aide pointed out that the return of Internally Displaced Persons in 25 out of the 27 local government areas of the state was an evidence that the attacks have been reduced when compared to previous administrations.

He said, “If you take a look at the 27 local government areas of Borno State, I will tell you that people are back to the headquarters of 25 out of 27 local government areas. “The only two local governments that I will say people are not at all back because military operations and of problems of inaccessibility are Abadam Local Government and Magumeri, within the northern part of Borno.”

Gusau commended the Muhammadu Buhari administration for showing what he described as the sincerity of purpose in the fight against terrorism in the country.

Check the records in Borno, where 20 local govt areas were under Boko Haram rule. He came and Borno became free & a lot of Chibok girls returned to their families.
