BNYL Fires At Presidency For Buhari’s Statement On Ohaneze, Miyetti Allah, Afenifere
The Biafra Nations Youth League, (BYNL) has chided President Muhammadu Buhari for comparing Ohaneze, the Igbo socio-political; group with Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association, MACBAN, and that of the Yoruba’s, Afenifere.
The spokesperson of President Buhari, Shehu Garba, speaking at a program on Channels Television on Tuesday had said the Miyetti Allah group is just like Afenifere and Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo, ‘It is a socio-cultural group’ he said, adding that there were criminals in each socio-political group.
Reacting through its Acting National Leader, Ebuta Victor Takon, BNYL said it was an insult to compare a terrorist Organization to ethnic-based Organizations.
“We have wondered why a President would welcome a sub terrorist group like Miyetti Allah who threatened so many attacks before the Fulani carried out their evil killings. Everyone knows MACBAN is behind Fulani killings if the Presidency can make such utterances it then they have proven to be the backbone of the activities of the jihadists in other parts of the country” Takon hinted.
He said the Ohanaeze Ndigbo is a well-respected body, as well as every ethnic-based group in South-south like the Ijaw Youth Council, Uhrobo Progressive Union, “whoever compares MACBAN to these Organizations, should be examined closely, that person might be having mental disorder either as a result of old age or the usual mental sickness”.
The BNYL’s Chief wondered why the Presidency could sideline the Arewa Consultative Forum, ACF and positioned MACBAN as the mouthpiece of the North.
