The Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, has said the State legislative arm of government will ensure that justice is served in the case of the murder of Bamise Ayanwole.
Recall that Naija News earlier reported that a 22-year-old lady, Oluwabamise Ayanwola, who was declared missing after boarding a Lagos Bus Rapid Transit BRT vehicle, was found dead,
One of the deceased relatives announced the sad news on Monday, March 7, 2022.
“We are at the morgue. We have confirmed the corpse,” the relative said in an emotional-laden voice.
The alleged murder of the decease has obviously not sat well with the public as some aggrieved members of the society have stormed the House of Representative to show their displeasure at the situation.
Obasa, while addressing the protesters promised that those who were responsible for the murder of the deceased would be caught and punished.
The protesters who visited the Lagos House of Assembly with the deceased elder sister called on the government to ensure the security of lives and property.
He said: “The erroneous belief that it would be swept under the carpet is unnecessary. The driver has been arrested and is in custody.
“We are watching and must ensure justice is done on the case. The Governor has spoken about it and I just want to appeal that we work together to get justice.
“We will do everything to make sure that justice is served. Justice must be served. And everybody in Lagos must be protected.”
Meanwhile, during plenary, Obasa had called on citizens and leaders to use the opportunity of the International Women’s Day to tackle issues which were down playing the equity of women in the country.
He expressed his grievance at the constant attack on women by perpetrators of heinous crimes.
“As a government, we must look inward to see the areas that are beneficial to the women. Women have become victims of violence and other crimes. What have we done for the emancipation of our women? How much of our women have we lost during child birth?
“We must encourage our women to be successful and live better,” he said.
