Ahead of the 2023 general elections, the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, has asked Nigerians to be security conscious.
The former lawmaker gave the admonition when he visited the Emir of Keffi, Dr Shehu Chindo-Yamusa, at his palace in Nasarawa State yesterday, Naija News understands.
Adamu charged citizens to put aside their differences, be law-abiding and love themselves irrespective of religious, tribal or political differences.
The APC chieftain congratulated Muslims for the completion of the 30 days of the Ramadan fast and celebration of the Eid el-Fitr.
He said, “We have the responsibility as a government to take care of the citizenry’s security, but security is everybody’s business.
“If anyone is doing anything wrong, you have the responsibility to report to the nearest authority. If you keep quiet, you are endangering the peace and tranquillity of the country and your family.
“You allow one little thing to happen and you don’t know how it will go. So everyone should see himself or herself as the agent of security in this country.”
Meanwhile, the emir had thanked his subjects and the entire Keffi Emirate and Muslims across the nation for the successful completion of the Ramadan fast.
He urged Nigerians to be proactive and mindful of the security situation and their involvement in political participation in the forthcoming 2023 general elections while admonishing farmers to go to their farms since the rainy season had begun.
