Anambra: Abducted INEC Official Found Dead

The body of Duruocha Osita Joel, an official of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) who was abducted on Wednesday, has been discovered in Anambra State.

The development was confirmed by the electoral body’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye in a statement released on Friday.

Okoye in the statement disclosed that the Administrative Secretary of INEC in the state, Okwuonu Jude had stated that Joel was missing.

Joel before the saddening incident was a Principal Executive Officer II on Grade Level 10.

Okoye said, “On Thursday, 29th September, the Administrative Secretary further informed the commission that Mr Duruocha’s dead body was found along Isu-Aniocha-Urum road in Awka North Local Government Area of Anambra State, where unknown persons dumped him.

“Other staff members of the commission, Duruocha’s brother and the police have evacuated the body and deposited same in the morgue.”

Security agencies in the state have commenced an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to Duruocha’s disappearance and eventual death.

A man identified as Onyedinka Esiala, who uses children with fake stomach tumor to beg for alms in Lagos has revealed how he carries out his enterprise.

The suspect said that a man who he referred to as Uche gives the children a drug which makes their stomach swell.

Esiala was exposed by a passerby identified as Benefit, at the Mile 2 area of Lagos State on Wednesday, September 28, 2022.

During an interview with Vanguard, the suspect said that his accomplice, Uche brings children to Lagos every year he travels to the east.
