The minister of transportation, Rotimi Amaechi on Friday led a delegation of government functionaries for the maiden fair of the newly constructed Guage rail line from Lagos to Abeokuta, Ogun state Nigeria.
Naija News reports that the government officials who witnessed the test run of the rail alongside Amaechi are; Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, and other dignitaries on the historical journey.
The train ride started from Iju, in Lagos state and arrived in Abeokuta within an hour. Nobel laureate, Wole Soyinka also witnessed the ride but he attended the event in Abeokuta where he welcomed others who tested the ride from Lagos.
Naija News had reported Nigerians can now travel for free from Iju, Lagos State to Abeokuta of Ogun State for free for about a month, using the newly-completed trains by the federal government.
