Popular Nigerian comedian, Abdulgafar Ahmad popularly known as Cute Abiola has been released from detention by the Nigerian Navy.
According to Punch, the development was confirmed by the spokesperson of the Nigerian Navy, Commodore Suleman Dahun, on Friday.
Recall that there was a report that Cute Abiola had gone missing on November 15, 2021, when his colleague in the industry, Debo Adebayo popularly known as Mr Macaroni raised the alarm that he could not be found after reporting at his office in Navy Town, Lagos, that same day.
The Navy two days after disclosed that Cute Abiola was not missing but was detained for contravening the military laws by posting a video of himself in military uniform on social media.
The Nigerian Navy further stated that the action of the comedian is a violation of the armed forces’ social media policy.
Dahun further stated that Cute Abiola refused to show up when called upon to explain himself but only returned after the expiration of his leave on November 15, 2021, and was detained the same day.
The spokesperson of the Navy while speaking on Friday claimed that Cute Abiola intentionally violated the armed forces’ social media policy but was given a punishment after he was tried for misconduct and indiscipline.
He further stated that he has been released from the detention of the Navy for him to serve his punishment.
