The newly formed Executive Committee of Afenifere, a pan-Yoruba socio-cultural and socio-political organization, on Sunday, paid a courtesy visit to its leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, at his residence in Lekki, Lagos State.
Naija News reports that this visit followed the inaugural meeting of the new Executive Committee.
The Secretary General of Afenifere who led the delegation, Agbaakin Ademola Folarin, remarked, “We chose to honour a distinguished leader of our organization with this visit to acknowledge his exemplary leadership in Afenifere and his significant contributions to Nigeria’s development, reflecting his dedication as a patriot.”
In response, Pa Adebanjo expressed his happiness at receiving the delegation and offered prayers for the continued progress of Afenifere, Yorubaland, and Nigeria.
Supporting the Secretary-General’s sentiments, Comrade Jare Ajayi, the National Publicity Secretary, emphasized that the Executive Committee deemed it important to recognize those who have contributed to the advancement of Afenifere, Yorubaland, and Nigeria, thereby demonstrating appreciation for their efforts.
He said: “Doing so from time to time is to encourage those concerned to do more. We decided to do this also as a way of encouraging others to emulate the elders who have done well and those who are still doing well.”
He added that knowing people appreciate one’s contributions can be heart-lifting.
“That’s one of the reasons behind our visit,” he said.
Others on the delegation were Alagba Dare Babarinsa, Abagun Kole Omololu, and Barrister Lanre Omisore.
