Former Minister of Defence, Musa Rabi’u Kwankwaso has officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
Naija News reports that the former Kano governor made this known in a letter of resignation addressed to his ward chairman on Tuesday.
Kwankwaso stated that he withdrew his membership from the opposition PDP over serious and irreconcilable differences in the party.
He said: “It is with a deep sense of responsibility that I write to notify you that as a result of some serious and irreconcilable differences, I have reached the conclusion that my continued stay in the PDP is untenable.”
“Therefore, from today Tuesday the 29th day of March 2022, I have withdrawn my membership from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.”
It is understood that this is the second time the former Kano governor will be dumping the PDP for another party.
Kwankwaso’s defection from the PDP comes a day after his son-in-law, Abba Yusuf, and some of his loyalists defected to the NNPP.
Yusuf, who announced his decision at a ceremony held in Gwale Local Government Area of the state, said PDP had failed its teeming supporters.
The PDP governorship candidate in Kano state added that his decision to dump the opposition party was to give the people of Kano a new breath of life in 2023.
