The Governor of Jigawa State, Mohammad Badaru, has joined the 2023 presidential race under the All Progressives Congress.
Badaru on Wednesday also acquired the nomination form of the ruling party which has been pegged at N100 million.
The Jigawa State Governor during an APC stakeholders meeting held at Government House Dutse on Tuesday evening said, “I will join the Presidential race since everyone knows I’m a highly qualified person to do the job.”
Badaru while addressing the gathering claimed that he was pressurized to contest for the presidential seat by his colleagues.
The media aide to the Bauchi State Governor, Auwalu Sankara, said his principal sought President Muhammadu Buhari’s blessings before buying the form.
Baduri would be hoping to clinch the presidential ticket of the ruling party ahead of the likes of the National Leader of the party, Bola Tinubu, Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige, Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello and several other aspirants in the party.
In a related development, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has officially declared his intention to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
The governor made his interest to contest for the office of the President in the 2023 elections known at the Hilton Hotel, Abuja, the nation’s capital city.
