Meet Children Of Top Nigerian Politicians Elected Into National Assembly

The 2023 election seemed to be one of the most controversial elections in the history of the country following the outcome of the election and reactions that trailed it.

This publication reports that the presidential and National Assembly elections, were held on Saturday, February 25, and many children of top politicians emerged victorious at the poll.

In this article, Naija News highlights those that were elected into various positions in the country.

1. El-Rufia’s Son: Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and eldest son of Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai won the House of Representatives seat in Kaduna North Local Government Area of the state.

Mohammed polled 51,052 to defeat the incumbent member Suleiman Samaila Abdu of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, who polled 34,808.

2. Haliru Bello’s son: Ibrahim Bello Mohammed, son of the former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Dr. Bello Mohammed Haliru emerged winner of the Birnin-Kebbi, Kalgo and Bunza Federal Constituency election.

3. Alao-Akala’s son: Olamiju, the son of former Oyo State Governor, late Adebayo Alao-Akala, also won a seat in the House of Representatives.

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was declared winner of the Ogbomosho North/South/ Oriire Federal Constituency by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer for the constituency, Akeem Salami.

4. Ibori’s daughter: The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) candidate in the Ethiope Federal Constituency, Hon Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, won the House of Representatives seat for the constituency.

Ibori-Suenu is the daughter of former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori.

She was elected after scoring 20,814 votes, while her closest rival, Halims Agoda of the All Progressives Congress, APC, got 15,172 votes.

5. Anne Okonkwo’s son: Uche Okonkwo is the son of a former Nigerian senator in Anambra State, Annie Okonkwo.

Uche won the Idemili North/South Federal Constituency election under the Labour Party platform. He defeated Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) two-time incumbent, Obinna Chidoka, the APGA candidate, Ike Cubana, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Ifeanyi Ibezim, in the contest.
