The member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sagir Mai Iyali who wrote a petition against Asiwaju Bola Tinubu seeking his disqualification from the race for the APC presidential ticket has declared support for the candidacy of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.
Naija News reports he declared his support for Osinbajo to clinch the APC ticket while speaking with journalists in Kano State on Monday.
Iyali argued that the Vice President has developed the capacity Nigeria needs in a leader based on his service to the country in the past and particularly in the past seven years.
According to him, Osinbajo is articulate, agile and credible and ticks all the boxes the country needs in a leader to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.
“We are confident of his ability and capacity to deliver. He is a personality of no mean repute and a high flying academic excellence. He has been in the leadership struggle for the past eight years serving in a very challenging capacity,” Iyali said.
“Every discerning Nigerian can attest to the fact that he is articulate, agile, up and doing.
“It is high time for every right thinking Nigerian to sift the grain from the chaff in voting credible politicians to power.
“We are in a very challenging situation in which we must strive to elect leaders with untainted credibility. We have no reason to elect mediocres to coveted positions of authority,” he added.
Recall as earlier reported by Naija News that Iyali in a petition which was written on the 17th of May, 2022, and submitted on Monday, May 30, asked the presidential screening committee of the All Progressives Congress to disqualify the national leader of the party, Bola Tinubu from seeking the party’s 2023 presidential ticket over alleged certificate forgery.
Iyali in the petition forwarded to the chairman of the presidential screening committee, John Odigie-Oyegun said Tinubu never graduated from the University of Chicago.
He added that the former Lagos State Governor lied about his age and state of origin.
