The lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial district, Osita Izunaso, has made a case for himself concerning the seat of the Senate President in the upcoming 10th national assembly.
According to him, he is the most senior lawmaker from the South-East and South-South regions and therefore deserves the seat of the Senate president.
Izunaso, as gathered by Naija News told pressmen on Tuesday after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari that he is the most qualified person to lead the 10th National Assembly to be inaugurated in June.
He submitted that his tenure as the National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) puts him in a good position for the seat of the Senate president.
Izunaso said beyond being the highest-ranking Senator, the Southeast he said needs to be given a sense of belonging under the APC.
The lawmaker who refused to disclose the details of his meeting with the president pointed out that he and the president discussed a wide range of issues of national importance during his visit to him.
He said he used the opportunity to inform the president about his ambition to become the senate president while applauding President Buhari for his performance under his administration.
He also declined to comment on his chances with major contenders for the senate president seat like Orji Uzor Kalu as well as Senator Godswill Akpabio, as he insisted that he is the oldest and will await the party’s decision.
