What President Tinubu Said At APC NEC Meeting In Abuja

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) won the 2023 presidential election despite the opposition parties claiming otherwise.

Naija News reports that the Nigerian leader stated this on Thursday while addressing the 12th National Executive Committee (NEC) of the ruling party at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hilton Hotel in Abuja.

The President asserted that it is now time to deliver the promises of good governance to the Nigerian people, stating that the 2023 election was the best election in Nigeria’s history.

He said: “Yes we are facing challenges in the court but I think this is the most credible election in Nigeria.

“So, we must congratulate ourselves. As democrats, those who cannot accept the results of a free and fair election do not deserve the joy of victory.

“There are governance issues and we are taking it heads on, we must oil the wheel and grease it and we are. I have submitted ministerial lists to the Senate for screening and approval.

“We are in the process of establishing fully the government of the people, for the people and by the people.”

Tinubu stated that policies that are being rolled out by his administration are not meant to punish Nigerians.

The President said his administration intends to tackle Nigeria’s problems “squarely” and not cause hardship for citizens.

He said: “Nigeria is going through some issues and I have sufficiently addressed it in my broadcast and the acting national chairman also spoke about it in his address.

“We will face it squarely to re-engineer the economy of this country. We must find a way to satisfy the yearnings of the common man and we must ensure that all the policies we roll out work for the common man. Our policies are for the people not to punish the people.”

Present at the NEC meeting were Vice President Kashim Shettima; Senate President Senator Godswill Akpabio; Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas; Vice President Kashim Shettima, APC governors, former Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, and members of the APC National Working Committee (NWC).
