‘The Same Boy Was Disobedient’ – Wike Reacts As Tribunal Affirms Fubara’s Election, Dismisses Tonye-Cole’s Petition

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has reacted to the outcome of the Rivers State governorship election petition tribunal.

Naija News reported that the Rivers State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Abuja had dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tonye Cole, against the election of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, in the March 18 poll.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Fubara, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), as the winner of the Rivers governorship election.

Delivering judgment on Monday, the three-man panel of the tribunal dismissed Tonye-Cole’s suit on the ground that the national leadership of the APC withdrew from the lawsuit against Fubara.

The tribunal also dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Labour Party, LP, in Rivers State, Beatrice Itubo, against Fubara’s election.

The tribunal also dismissed the petition filed by the governorship candidate of the Accord Party, AP, Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs.

Speaking with journalists after the tribunal verdict, Wike expressed excitement with the ruling, describing his joy as a child whose land was being taken by a stranger and later got justice.

The federal minister described Tonye Cole as a ‘disobedient boy’ and his petition a ‘satanic request’, saying APC had pulled from the case after PDP presented its facts.
