Vice President, Kashim Shettima on Sunday flagged off the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign for the governorship election in Kogi State ahead of November 11.
Naija News reports that Kashim Shettima, who represented his principal, President Bola Tinubu, flagged off the campaign at a mega rally held at the Muhammadu Buhari Civic Centre, Lokoja, the Kogi State capital.
At the rally, the VP appealed to the state’s people to vote for the APC candidate, Ahmed Ododo.
He said the election of Ododo would enhance the revival process of the Ajaokuta Steel Company as it was essential to the president.
He said, “This is the reason the President has created a separate ministry and even decided to appoint Kogi-born Alhaji Shuaib Audu as the Minister of Steel Development to hasten the process of reviving the Ajaokuta Steel Company and other steel companies in the country.
“This is why you must vote for the APC for continuity so that the dream of reviving our steel industry would be a reality. Ajaokuta, when fully operational, will guarantee over 500,000 jobs and over 300,000 employment opportunities for our teaming youths,”
Ododo, during his remark, said, “Kogi should not be allowed to be governed by selfish individuals, who are coming out to divide the state and hide under ethnic agenda.”
In attendance at the rally includes the APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, Governor Yahaya Bello, Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, the APC governorship candidate in Kogi, Ahmed Ododo, among other APC stalwarts.
