Cross River Gov., Prof. Ben Ayade has expressed shock and sadness over the demise of Mr Simon Nkoro-Egbung, the member representing Ikom Constituency 2 in the state House of Assembly.
The governor in a statement signed on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Ita, said the death of the lawmaker was a “loss so painful to bear.”
“Mr Nkoro’s demise leaves a sour taste in my mouth and ache in my heart. But then, we cannot question God, Him and only Him alone has prerogative over life.
“However, as a human, my heart is heavy, filled with sorrow. I agnoise and mourn this death”.
While decrying that the late lawmaker departed at a time his service to the state was most needed, Ayade described him as “a dedicated lawmaker.
He said that the late lawamaker was a consumate politician, a team player and loyal partyman, whose death is a huge loss to the people and government of Cross River.
The governor offered his heartfelt condolences to Nkoro-Egbung’s family, colleagues and constituency.
He prayed God to grant them the strength to bear the irreplaceable loss, saying “we are together with you in prayers in this moment of unspeakable sadness”.
NAN reports that until his death, Nkoro-Egbung was the Deputy Leader of the House and a third term member of the house.
He died at the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital on Sunday Aug. 26, after a brief sickness.
NAN also reports that his dead is coming three months after the demise of Mr Stephen Ukpukpen, who represented Obudu State Constituency in the assembly.
