Governor Aminu Bello Masari of Katsina State, has directed the new Head of Service (HoS) to come up with a comprehensive policy training plan to expose civil servants to the rigours of the service.
Naija News learnt that Masari gave the directive when the forum of permanent secretaries led by the new State Head of service , Idris Usman Tune, to pay him Sallah homage at the Government House, Katsina.
He said organizing a two to three-day training workshop outside the state would help in exposing the permanent secretaries to a different environment, which could add value and widen their knowledge of handling administrative challenges in their respective ministries and departments.
According to him, when the present administration came in 2015, government decided to reposition the civil service because it has been weakened by some policies that are not helpful.
“The tenure policy introduced at the federal level and some states copied created more problems than solutions; that is why the present administration abolished the system to give more confidence to the civil servants.”
He said civil servants, being the implementing vehicle of government policies and programme, lack the wherewithal, calling for more in-house training to enhance their performance for effective service delivery.
Idris Usman Tune, the state Head of Service and leader of the forum said they were at the government house to pay Sallah homage to the Governor in view of his exemplary leadership qualities demonstrated within the last three and a half years.
He re-assured of the civil servants loyalty to all the various governments policies and programmes towards moving the state forward.
