Gov Otti Has Saved Labour Party – Kenneth Okonkwo

A former spokesman of the Labour Party presidential campaign council, Kenneth Okonkwo, has said Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has saved the party from anarchy.

Kenneth Okonkwo said the stakeholders meeting hosted by Governor Otti was a National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party.

In a statement on Wednesday, Okonkwo enjoined Labour Party members to join hands with the Nenadi Usman’s-led National Caretaker executive to ensure it holds the party’s national convention in 90 days.

Your Excellency, you have demonstrated that you are a decisive leader, and you deployed your astuteness to prevent anarchy from falling on Labour Party

“I recall how when the Labour Party was tilting towards confusion some dedicated stakeholders came together and reached out to you via the letter enclosed, and you swiftly acted and brought some stability into the Labour Party.

“I call on every Labour Party member to support this initiative to enable our party to move forward,” the Nollywood veteran said.

The human rights lawyer added, “What took place at Abia is a National Executive Council meeting, which, in its wisdom, invited other major stakeholders to make it more inclusive.

“Senator Nenadi Usman is a personable, intelligent person who will deploy her experience and motherly kindness to steer the party out of this trying period.

“Whoever may feel unaccommodated with what happened at Umuahia should sheath his/her sword for the progress of the party. The present leadership has about 90 days to deliver an all-inclusive convention, during which any party member can freely seek any position of choice.

“This is our best opportunity to escape the transactional former expired National Working Committee.

“All hands must be on deck to actualize the all-inclusive convention within 90 days.
