Abubakar Haidar Aliyu, a youthful governorship aspirant who couldn’t pick the All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial ticket for Gombe State says he has garnered valuables lessons and experience that will put him in good stead the next time he vies for the state’s top job.
The youthful governorship aspirant, while thanking his supporters shortly after the result of the primary election was announced in Gombe, pledged to drum massive support for the party’s standard bearer, Alhaji Muhammad Umar Yahaya in next year’s general election.
“I strongly believe we have proven the potentials of youths and we are glad we participated in the transparent process of screening and primary election. We will support fully the flagbearer, Alhaji Inuwa who emerged victorious at the primary.”
Haidar Aliyu, son of the first female President Court of Appeal’s President, Justice Zainab, noted that despite the electoral setback he suffered at the shadow poll, he remains committed to the stellar ideals of promoting youths development, women empowerment and poverty alleviation.
“Like I said during my campaign tours, if elders possess the experience, the youth have the energy, if elders are the planners, the youth are the builders, if elders are blessed with the benefit of hindsight, the youth are enriched by foresight, powerful dreams and visions. WE will therefore be ready to support our leaders for the growth of our state and nation to greatness.”
He advised the APC flagbearer to also assiduously pursue developmental-targeted policies and programmes that will emancipate the state from the stranglehold of poverty, backwardness and underdevelopment.
The winner at the Primary, Inuwa Yahaya, beat 8 others to emerge the APC candidate in the forthcoming governorship election. Inuwa, who was the APC governorship candidate in the 2015 governorship election in the state, beat other top contenders including Senator Umar Idris, a former house of representative member representing Yamaltu Deba federal constituency, former senator representing Gombe Central and former minister of transport . Inuwa Yahaya got 859 votes out of the total number of 1721 votes casts to beat Mohammed Dan Barde, Farouk Bamusa, Idris Umar, Umar Kwairanga, Habu Muazu, Dasuki Jalo, Khamisu Mailantarki and Aliyu Haidar.
