Boko Haram insurgents have infiltrated the city of Geidam, Yobe state, firing sporadically at residents of the city.
According to residents of the insurgents used the market to infiltrate the emerging merchant city.
They claimed that the insurgents stormed the city around 5:30 pm, renting the air with bullets, and shot at the residents in the streets.
Naija News learnt that residents had to hide behind closed doors and others fled into the nearby bushes.
He added that they had been warned more than a week before the insurgents attack.
He said the army could not say it was a surprise attack, as everyone in the city knew about the warning.
As at the time of filing this report the Nigerian airforce had sent fighter jets to quell the attack, the planes were seen hovering over the city.
