Buhari’s Plan Was To Turn A Dictator – Secondus

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Prince Uche Secondus, has claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s desire was to head all the three arms of government and turn a full-blown dictator.

Prince Secondus told party supporters at the Godswill Akpabio stadium, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Monday that President Buhari’s ambition is to be Chief Justice, Senate President and the Speaker of the House, yet he claims to a converted Democrat.

Lagos State Assembly May Impeach Gov Ambode

The Lagos State House of Assembly, on Monday 29 January, initiated impeachment proceedings against Governor Akinwunmi Ambode over misappropriation of funds and failure to present the state budget for 2019.

The Assembly subsequently summoned Ambode to appear before it within one week over the budget, which has reportedly become a source of dispute between the two arms of government.

Biafra: IPOB Declares Sit-At-Home In Abia Ahead Of Buhari’s Visit

The proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) led by Nnamdi Kanu, has ordered its members in Abia state, southern Nigeria, to observe a sit-at-home on Tuesday ahead of President Muhammadu Buhari‘s visit to Aba, the commercial nerve of the state.

Naija News reports that the secessionist group gave this order in a statement issued on Monday evening by its spokesman, Emma Powerful.

Onnoghen: NBA Direct Lawyers To Boycott Courts Nationwide

Lawyers across the country, have been directed by the Nigerian Bar Association(NBA) to boycott all courts as from Tuesday (today) in protest of the suspension of Walter Onnoghen as Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

The lawyers said their action will last for two days and would serve as a warning to the federal government.

Reports that Walter Onnoghen, suspended chief justice of Nigeria (CJN) has resigned has been debunked.

Onnoghen’s senior special assistant on media, Awusam Bassey who debunked the rumour said they were “handiwork of mischief makers” as there was no truth in it.

The Governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima has reinstated the commitment of his administration to battle Boko Haram insurgency through the mobilisation of local hunters to be inducted into the ongoing counterinsurgency operation in the state.

Mr Shettima who disclosed this while hosting the new Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, Benson Akinroluyo, also informed the army general that the local hunters will be given a crash training before their deployment to guard the fringes of the hinterland.

Nigeria made progress, moving up four places in the Transparency International corruption perception index (CPI) for 2018, according to the latest report released on Tuesday morning.

Of the 180 countries that were surveyed last year, Nigeria is ranked 144 – representing an upward movement of four places compared to the 148 out of 180 ranking in 2017.
