INEC To Hold Adamawa Supplementary Election On Thursday

The Independent National Electoral Commission,(INEC), has announced Thursday, March 28 for the conduct of supplementary governorship election in Adamawa State.

Recall as earlier published by Naija News, the Adamawa State High Court, on Tuesday vacated the order barring INEC from conducting supplementary elections in the state.

Following the court judgment earlier on Tuesday, the electoral body had said a new date for the conduct of the governorship rerun would be disclosed before the end of the day.

“Following the discharge of the injunction which stopped the governorship supplementary election in Adamawa state in the case filed by the MRDD, INEC will now conduct the election on Thursday, 28th March 2019 from 8a.m to 2 p.m in 29 Registration Areas (RAs), 44 Polling Units across 14 LGAs with a total number of 40, 988 registered voters,” the statement from INEC on Tuesday reads.

Before the initial March 9 elections were suspended, the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Hammadu Fintiri, was leading after polling 367,471 votes while the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, and incumbent governor of the state, Jubrilla Bindow had 334,995 votes.
