Zamfara Killings: Federal Government Issue Warning To Traditional Rulers

In respect to the killings and kidnapping in Zamfara State, the Federal Government has warned some traditional rulers and some important people in the state against colluding with bandits in the state.

Mansur Dan-Ali, the Minister of Defence in a statement that was released through his spokesperson, Col. Tukur Gusau, on Tuesday stated that some information has revealed that some “highly-placed traditional rulers” are involved in the killings of Nigerians in the northern.

He also called out individuals that are aiding the bandits with information and frustrating the security agencies to put a hold to their action.

Dan-Ali stated that anyone that is caught helping the bandits will face the full wrath of the law.

In his statement, he stated that the Armed Forces had been called to deal with anybody identified to be helping the bandits under whatever guise, no matter how highly placed the person may be.

He stated that the government has taken steps to deal with the attacks, including the establishment of 8 Division in Sokoto and the conduct of Exercise Harbin Kunama III, to combat banditry in Zamfara, Katsina, Sokoto and Birnin Gwari axis of Kaduna State.

He took the opportunity to call on the people of the affected state to join hands with the security operatives by giving them useful information.

Naija News recalls the federal government also recently, banned mining activities in Zamfara State as part of measures targeted at fighting insecurity in the area.
