Ganduje Gifts N6M To Zainab Aliyu, Ibrahim Abubakar

Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano state has offered cash gift of N6 million to Zainab Aliyu and Ibrahim Abubakar, both detained and subsequently released by Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking.

The donation was announced by Ganduje himself when he received Federal Government delegation led by the special adviser to the president on diaspora matters, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, at government house, Kano State.

The delegation was on the official presentation of Zainab and Ibrahim to Kano state government.

‎Ganduje who sympathize with the victims and their relative over false and criminally planting illicit substance in their luggage while on their way for lesser hajj.‎

‎The governor applauded the timely intervention of the Federal government who rescued their innocent lives. He noted that his government felt it necessary to compensate the victims with N3 million each having suffered needless punishment for the sin they know nothing about.

Earlier, the Chairman of Nigeria Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, told the governor the delegation were at the Government House, to officially hand over the two indigenes of the state to the government.

She explained that ‎investigations conducted by the Airport Authorities and National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Kano, discovered a drug cartel at the Kano International Airport, Kano, that specializes in planting illicit drugs on innocent travelers without their knowledge.‎ The six syndicates are facing criminal allegations at Federal high court in Kano.

‎Both Zainab and Abubakar commended the Nigerian Government, Nigerian Consulate in Jeddah, Chairperson of Nigeria Diaspora Commission and Kano Government for securing their release.
