EFCC Investigating Okorocha, Others
The chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr Ibrahim Magu has disclosed that the agency is investigating Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state.
Magu, acting chairman of the anti-graft agency, made the disclosure during an interview with Channels Television in London when he was asked particularly about Okorocha.
In response, he said “definitely”.
“Of course, we are doing a couple of checks and investigations here and there. We are investigating almost everybody,” he added.
Naija News reports the immunity Okorocha enjoys as a sitting governor will expire when he hands over to the newly elected governor of the state on May 29.
The anti-graft boss, however, added that investigation has to get to a certain level before specific information can be made available so as not to jeopardise the investigative process.
Naija News recalls Okorocha is currently embroiled in a legal tussle with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) over the certificate of return of Imo west senatorial district.
He was declared the winner of the election but INEC withdrew the certificate, after the returning officer for the polls said he declared the result under duress.
