Buhari, 29 Governors To Take Oath Of Office Today (Full List)
President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, 29 governors and their deputies will on Wednesday (today) take their oath of office.
However, Naija News learnt that many outgoing governors will shun the inauguration of their successors.
While Buhari and his running mate Osinbajo of the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be sworn-in today at the Eagle Square in Abuja for a second term, other governors-elect would be sworn-in in their respective states. The results of the election showed that only APC and PDP produced governors out of the over 90 political parties.
Sanwo-Olu Makes First Appointment
Incoming Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed Tayo Ayinde as his new Chief of Staff.
Naija News reports that this is coming few hours after Governor Akinwunmi Ambode officially handed over to him.
Sources close to Ayinde confirmed the appointment of the former Campaign Director of Sanwo-Olu.During an interactive session with newsmen some days ago, Sanwo-Olu had disclosed those who would make up his cabinet.
Sanwo-Olu said: “There are so many intelligent people in Lagos. It’s just for us to identify them. Some could work full time, some part-time, others could be technocrats or politicians but the bottom line is for us to identify square pegs into square holes and round pegs into round holes. That’s number one.
Buhari Submits Asset Declaration Form Ahead Inauguration
President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday submitted his asset declaration ahead of his inauguration today.A statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu, noted that Buhari submitted the former to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) which by law must precede his oath-taking during his inauguration.
The statement disclosed that Sarki Abba, Senior Special Assistant, Household and Domestic Affairs to Buhari, submitted the duly completed form to the Chairman of the CCB, Professor Mohammed Isa, on behalf of the President.
Osinbajo Submits His Declaration Of Assets
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has submitted his assets declaration forms to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) ahead of the oath-taking ceremony slated for May 29 and in compliance with the requirement of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended).
Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, disclosed this in a late night statement on Tuesday. The submission by the vice president follows right after President Muhammadu Buhari submitted his forms.
Naija News understands that the president has already arrived at the Eagles square for his inauguration.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Research, Legal and Compliance Matters, Office of the Vice President, Dr Balkisu Saidu, submitted the completed forms to the Chairman of the CCB, Prof. Mohammed Isa, on behalf of the vice president.
