Amb. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande has been elected as the 74th UN General Assembly President
Naija News Understands that the election of Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations was never a surprise to the Nigerian presidency as he was elected through acclamation at the 87th plenary meeting of the Assembly in New York on Tuesday.
He is the second Nigerian to hold the office after Joseph Garba, a retired military officer and diplomat, who led the organ between 1989 and 1990.
Meanwhile, it will be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari had earlier sent ambassador Mustapha Sulaiman and other Nigerian delegates to support, Prof. Tijjani Muhammad-Bande.
