Nigeria’s Former First Lady, Patience Jonathan has today appealed the forfeiture of her N12.2billion to the Federal Government.
She asked that the Judgement of Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos be set aside by the Court of Appeal, Lagos.
Through her counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), Jonathan argued that the judge erred in law by ordering the final forfeiture when she had no jurisdiction to do so.
Naija News understands that the Federal High Court in Lagos had yesterday ordered the final forfeiture of the 8.4 million dollars and N7.4 billion found in accounts linked to a former First Lady, Patience Jonathan.
Justice Mojisola Olatoregun of the Federal High Court in Lagos had held that the money is a proceed of crime.
An application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was granted and the money was permanently forfeited to the government.
