What CAN Said About Buhari’s Sack Of NCPC Boss, Ujah

CAN Reacts After Buhari Sacked NCPC Boss

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has reacted to the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to sack Rev. Tor Ujah as the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC).

Recall as previously reported by Naija News, the President on Tuesday, relieved Ujah of his duties as the Executive Secretary of the commission, directing him to hand over to the Director of Administration in the Commission, Esther Kwaghe.

In a reaction to the development, CAN’s National Director of Legal and Public Affairs, Evangelist Samuel Kwamkur, said the umbrella Christian body recognizes the power of the President to exercise his legal right as empowered by the constitution of the country.

He, however, added that President Buhari should appoint a replacement that would bridge the gap between the Church and government.

“We cannot tell the government that it must appoint this person or remove that individual as the NCPC boss.

“But we can always give our opinion as to our desire that good people be appointed to lead the Commission; people that are ready to serve because some people see the NCPC as a money making point.

“Such people rather than helping the Church to grow and Christians to build their faith as they visit the Holy Land by creating programmes that will bring the Church together or closer to the government; they increase the gap so that the church will be far from the government. That’s the unfortunate part we have seen some leaders in such capacities play,” he said in a chat with Daily Post in Abuja on Tuesday.

Recall Naija News earlier reported that the sacked Ujah had also expressed appreciation to President Buhari on the opportunity to serve the country.
