The former Chairman, Nigeria Peoples Congress, Mohammed Aliyu, has appealed to the Governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Natasha Akpoti, to withdraw her suit against the Kogi State governor, Yahaya Bello from the Abuja Federal High Court.
The SDP governorship candidate is challenging the eligibility of the All Progressives Congress governorship candidate to contest in the November 16 governorship election in the state due to double registration.
Mohammed, who had earlier shown interest in running for the governorship election, appealed to Akpoti in a statement sent to NAN in Abuja.
He said, “While I take exception to the way and manner INEC disqualified Akpoti, I like to state that, the governorship contest as it is now, is beyond Bello.
He noted that the governorship race is now a project of the Ebira nation and the Kogi State governor is the symbol of the project.
He added that the disqualification of Akpoti left a sour taste in the mouth but if the Bello gets disqualified, it will be a great pain to the people of Ebira.
Mohammed further stated that her supporters from Kogi Central will be the first to rise against her if this happens.
Mohammed said though he withdrew as chairman and governorship candidate of NPC, due to inadequacies associated with party politics in Nigeria, that had not vitiated his interest in which zone of the senatorial districts should produce the governor.
He charged Akpoti to make a great sacrifice for the people of Ebira by withdrawing the case from court and by some doing she will be contributing to the agenda of the Ebira people and her name will be written in Gold.
Mohammed, who is a management consultant, described Akpoti as a young lady, energetic, full of potential and still in a position to represent Ebira nation in positions of higher responsibilities in the near future.
