1. Nigeria’s Foreign Reserves Drop By $1.26billion In October
Nigeria’s foreign reserves have dropped by $1.26bn from $41.76bn on October 2 to $40.5bn as at the end of October 30. According to the economic report for the third quarter of 2019 by Central Bank of Nigeria the reserves which had continued to shed in recent months dropped by $482.18m from N45.14bn as of July 8 to $44.65bn as of August 8, 2019.
2. Two-story Building Collapses In Lagos
A two-story building on Friday evening collapsed along Glover Road in the Ikoyi area of Lagos State. Naija News gathered that the collapsed building was still under construction.
3. Court Sacks Kano Federal Lawmaker, Abdulmumin Jibrin
The Court of Appeal on Friday sacked Abdulmumin Jibrin as the lawmaker representing Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency of Kano State. The decision was handed down by Justice Ajoke Adepoju who also ordered a fresh election to be conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
4. Ajimobi Loses To Balogun At Appeal Court
The court of appeal sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has laid to rest the dispute that arose from February 23, 2019, National Assembly election in Oyo South. The appeal panel on Friday dismissed the petition by Sen. Abiola Ajimobi, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) against the election victory of Dr. Kola Balogun of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
5. Ijaw Youths Reacts To Call For Sack Of Buhari’s Minister, Akpabio
Youths under the auspices of the Ijaw Youths Council, IYC, worldwide has dismissed rumours that they are a part of the call for the sack of the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio. The youth also said the issue is detrimental to the Niger Delta’s development.
6. EFCC’s Magu Finally Reacts To Petition Written Against Tinubu’s Bullion Van
Ibrahim Magu, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)‘ acting chairman, ignored a question on the petition against Bola Tinubu, national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), over alleged cash-laden bullion vans traced to him. Recall that in February, pictures of two bullion vans being driven into Tinubu’s Bourdillon residence in Lagos on the eve of the presidential election went viral on social media.
7. 2023: APC Governors Speak On Tinubu, El-Rufai Presidential Ticket
Governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have revealed their stand on the possibility of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu or Mallam Nasir El-Rufai taking over from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023. Naija News reports Tinubu is the National Leader of the APC and El-Rufai is the incumbent governor of Kaduna State.
8. Fire Burns Down Popular GSM Market In Maiduguri
Property worth several millions of Naira were on Thursday night destroyed when a raging fire razed many shops in the Maiduguri GSM market. Popularly called “Kasuwar Jagol” in local parlance, the GSM market is located at the Post Office area of the town and houses thousands of traders and artisans.
