APC Chieftain Arrested Over Alleged Security Statement

The publicity secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Zamfara state has been reportedly arrested by the state government over an open statement bordering on the state security issues.

The Zamfara state police command stated that the APC chieftain was apprehended to help the security agencies investigate the security challenges in the state.

According to Daily Post, Ibrahim Danmaliki Gidangoga was arrested at the mosque premises after his evening prayers at Sheik Kanoma’s mosque.

It was reported that the police stormed the mosque and surrounded the mosque with arms waiting for Gidangoga to finish his prayers before he could be arrested.

There were claims that the arrest warrant was issued by Zamfara state court of justice in Gusau, the state capital so that the APC chieftain could lead the security operatives to the bushes where he claimed that there were over three million arms and ammunition in the bushes.

The chairman of the state APC publicity committee, Ibrahim Danmadami Birinin Magaji, stated that the arrest may be connected to the statement made by Gidangoga during a press conference in Gusau, the state capital.

A further report has it that Gidangoga will appear before a court in Samaru in Gusau metropolis.

The state governor during a press conference had tasked security agencies in the state to arrest Gidangoga so that he could lead them to the bushes where he said arms and ammunition were stored.

Governor Bello Matawalle stated that the issue of insecurity in the state should not be treated with soft hands, stressing that the law must take its proper cause, vowing that anybody who tries to rubbish the peace deal in the state must be decisively dealt with.
