Naija News reports made this call on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, on Tuesday, December 10, to commemorate with the “Human Rights Day.”
This online news platform understands that Atiku’s call for the release of “all prisoners of good conscience” in the country is coming at the time Omoyele Sowore, the convener of #RevolutionNow Movement is languishing in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) despite court orders for his release.
Naija News had reported earlier that the DSS released Sowore on Thursday night after spending 124 days in detention. 
Sowore’s release followed a court ruling ordering the secret police to release the former Presidential candidate in the next 24 hours.
However, on Friday morning, the secret police re-arrested Sowore in the premises of the Federal High court in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital and reportedly took the activist to the DSS headquarters.
Apparently displeased with the detention of Sowore and other “prisoners of good conscience” in the country, Atiku tweeted: “#HumanRightsDay means that the global human community abhors dictatorial regimes.
“To celebrate this day therefore, I again call for the immediate release of all prisoners of good conscience in Nigeria and demand a jettisoning of repressive legislation against free speech.”
