The Minister of Aviation under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, Femi Fani-Kayode, has commended the South-East Governors, over their plan to establish a security outfit in the region.
Governors from the South-East in a statement noted that the name of the security outfit would be revealed later and confirmed that the headquarters would be in Enugu state.
The Chairman of the Forum, Governor David Umahi, further revealed that the security outfit was birthed before the South-West security outfit, Operation Amotekun.
The Ebonyi State Governor noted that the security outfit will soon get the backing of the Houses of Assembly in the zone.
Fani-Kayode who took to his Twitter account to react wrote: “I commend the courage of the SE Governors for stating their intention to establish their own joint security outfit to protect their people and fight crime in their zone.”
“I expected no less from them and I am glad that they made this historic move. Proud of them! Now SW is not alone!”
