The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has received the Supreme Court order on the outcome of the Bayelsa State governorship election.
Naija News recalls the Supreme Court on Thursday, sacked David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the governor-elect of the state.
In its initial reaction to the court judgment, the Independent National Electoral Commission said it was yet to be served with the certified true copy of the judgment.
INEC National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye, said this on Thursday in Abuja.
He, however, stated that INEC will obey court orders and judgments including that of the Supreme Court, but the commission will not act based on reports from social media.
However, this online medium can now report that INEC has received the certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgment.
A decision is expected to be reached and communicated on the next line of action on the expected inauguration of a new administration in Bayelsa State.
The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu and some National Commissioners are currently in a closed door meeting at the Commission’s Headquarters in Abuja as at the time of filing this report.
