President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday met with security chiefs in a closed-door meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
NAN reports that the Monday security meeting with Buhari was attended by all the four service chiefs namely; Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Abayomi Olonisakin, Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai.
Others are Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Sadique Abubakar and Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas as well as the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.
Naija News reports that the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Monguno (retd.), was absent at the meeting.
The meeting between Buhari and the service chiefs which is usually a routine security meetings was tagged ‘special consultation’.
The service chiefs passed through the office of the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Abba Kyari, on their way out.
Recall that while reacting to latest attack in Adamawa State by Boko Haram, Buhari had vowed to bombard the insurgents until submission.
The president had assured Nigerians that in the coming weeks they would witness an agressive campaign against Boko Haram.
Buhari insisted that security will continue to be well funded despite the competing needs of social services.
“I appeal to Nigerians to continue to support our troops in their gallant efforts to protect the citizens and secure the country,” he added.
