Kano State in a few weeks now has witnessed an alarming figure of deaths since the outbreak of Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.
Initially, there were arguments that the mysterious death happening in the state was not caused by COVID-19 but a yet to be identified sickness.
Also, some alleged that the mysterious death was as a result of chronic malaria and cerebrospinal meningitis (CSM).
However, a few time later, the government confessed that the deaths were caused by COVID-19 related disease.
Again, a report reaching this online news platform at this time confirmed that an Osun-born professor has died in Kano State.
It was reported that the professor, Monsuru Emiola who is a senior lecturer of the Bayero University, Kano (BUK), died at the university clinic following an undisclosed illness which reportedly held him down for a while.
Naija News understands that prof. Monsuru was a senior lecturer with the Physical and Health Education Department, Faculty of Education, before his death.
It could be recalled that another lecturer in the Faculty of Communication, Prof. Balarabe Maikaba had died on April 26 in the same University.
Meanwhile, the Kano State Ministry of Health on Thursday confirmed that it recorded another five COVID-19 deaths.
The State made this known in a tweet, the tweet revealed that 30 fresh cases of the coronavirus disease were recorded on Wednesday, May 6th in the state.
