The Regional Office of the World Health Organization in Brazzaville, Congo, has revealed that the number of Coronavirus confirmed cases in the continent has risen to over 66,000 in the past 24 hours.
The development was revealed by the UN health agency on its official Twitter account on Tuesday.
The post noted that the Pandemic has led to the death of 2,300 people in the continent, while more than 22,000 patients have recovered.
“Over 66,000 confirmed #COVID19 cases on the African continent – with more than 22,000 recoveries & 2,300 associated deaths,” it said.
The WHO African Region COVID-19 dashboard showed that South Africa, Egypt, Morocco, and Algeria have continued to top the list of countries with the highest reported coronavirus cases.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control on Monday confirmed 242 new cases of COVID-19 bringing the total to 4,641 the number of confirmed cases.
