Abba Kyari: PSC Gives Police Two Weeks Ultimatum

The Nigeria Police Force has been directed by the Police Service Commission to conclude it’s investigation on the case involving the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari within two weeks.

The spokesman of the commission, Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement on Friday directed that the investigation should be carried out by a different panel.

The decision was reached at the 14th plenary meeting which was chaired by retired Inspector-General of Police and Chairman of the Commission, Musiliu Smith.

Kyari before his suspension was the head of the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Team.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation of the United States of America had indicted Kyari in a fraud case involving internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi.

A panel set up by the IGP Usman Alkali had forwarded a report to the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, for legal advice.

Meanwhile, Malami on Monday disclosed that the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government and the United States government are discussing the possible extradition of the suspended head of the Intelligence Response Team, DCP Abba Kyari.

According to Malami, some reasonable grounds for suspicion have been established against Kyari.
