A bandit kingpin, Shehu Rekeb, in an interview with Daily Trust said there is hardly a day without Nigerians being killed in Niger, Sokoto, Zamfara and Kaduna.

He further stated that things are so bad that even President Muhammadu Buhari cries in silence.

Rekeb while speaking said, “Every passing hour, Nigerians are killed either by bandits, security personnel or vigilantes in Niger, Sokoto, and Kaduna. Everyone you see carrying a gun is out there to kill a Nigerian.

“This is the dire situation Nigeria has found itself in that one cannot help but shed tears.”

Rekeb noted that if state governments had kept their promise on dialogue, banditry would have been a thing of the past.

He said, “After we agreed with a dialogue offer, we were left in the bush with guns.”

The most wanted bandit kingpin in Zamfara, Bello Turji, during the interview said injustice against Fulani led to the security issue.

Turji added that the first time he saw a human being slaughtered was in a market in Shinkafi.

According to Turji, vigilantes brought a man near the Shinkafi abattoir in broad daylight and slaughtered him in front of everyone to see.

He noted that herders had to fight when they were hindered from accessing Shinkafi in Zamfara.
