The co-convener of the BringBackOurGirls movement, Aisha Yesufu, on Thursday reacted to the report of two Nigerians, Ike Ekweremadu and his wife Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu arrested in the United Kingdom over alleged organ harvesting.

Naija News had earlier reported that the couples were arrested in the UK for allegedly facilitating the travel of another person with a plan to harvest the organ.

The statement released by the metropolitan police reads, “Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.”

“Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange/facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.”

Yesufu in a post on her Twitter account wondered how many people have gone missing in a case related to organ harvesting.

She queried how many cases have happened in countries where they do not care and corruption is rife.

The human rights activist wrote, “How many missing people are related to organ harvesting? How many such cases have been happening in countries where they do not care and corruption is rife? How many are even happening here! This is scary.”
